PlusZero To Support Decarbonisation Of Transport In Public Sector Through Procurement Framework Win

Hebrides-based start-up, PlusZero, is to support the decarbonisation of transport in the public sector after being added to a major procurement framework as a supplier of green hydrogen.

Planting a flag as one of the only companies specialising in the production of green hydrogen from Scottish renewable energy, the development will list PlusZero as a supplier of green hydrogen for vehicle refuelling and related infrastructure.

The framework is UK-wide, providing opportunities for PlusZero to supply local authorities and other public bodies including Fire Authorities, NHS Foundation Trusts and education providers across the UK - accelerating progress towards decarbonised transport systems.

PlusZero is currently actively seeking £100 million in funding to build an electrolyser to supply green hydrogen from the Western Isles, produced from islands-generated renewable energy that would otherwise be curtailed.

Founder and Managing Director of PlusZero, David Amos, said:

“PlusZero has big plans for 2022, not only in progressing our ambition to decarbonise the events sector, but in scaling up our capacity as a supplier of green hydrogen from renewable energy produced in the Western Isles.

“It is therefore great news that PlusZero has been added to this major public procurement framework. There are limitless opportunities for decarbonisation across every sector with the expansion of the hydrogen economy and I am delighted we can be a part of that, by supplying green hydrogen for the transport sector.

“The Procurement Partnership are to be commended for their strategic insight in recognising the opportunities presented by hydrogen to support the decarbonisation plans for the public sector.  I’m delighted that PlusZero has been chosen as one of the key green-hydrogen suppliers on the new framework and look forward to working with TPP and their public sector clients to make this framework a great success.”
